Aquaponics is making the shift from niche enterprise to established agriculture with the addition of a new three-credit continuing education course being offered in the spring through UW-Stevens Point.

"As the aquaponics industry grows, one of the big issues we face is a lack of trained and educated individuals to fill jobs as aquaponic greenhouse managers and workers," said Rebecca Nelson of Nelson and Pade in Montello, international builders of aquaponic systems. "The launch of this course, which I believe is the first of its kind, will help to fill the demand for university level training in aquaponics."
