How do Aquaponics in Hawaii, Video # 5. By: Spring Aquaponics LLC
Spring Aquaponics LLC is a company in the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii which strives to build, install and maintain aquaponic gardens in backyards of the client. primaveraaquaponics.com the use of aquaponics (which is the use of water of Tilapia fish to grow edible plants in soil less media in the form of closed-loop), would allow a reduction in the rate of importation of food (nearly 90%) to our island. In addition and most importantly, our "Gourmet Garden" will allow a reduction of 1/3 of the costs of food for the buyer with a payback of 12 months (for a family of four).

Eat green, reduction of carbon foot print with Aquaponics
East video is my Blog and I invite you to look in and see how my family and I are learning to be green; physically, mentally and spiritually. We are going to share in our journey of discovery! There is a better way there and I'm going to find it. Thinking of the best, while in any way provide food locally and reduce our carbon footprint. We have decided to make aquaponics a central part of our greener life and as a result our approach as it has lately been expanding our aquaponics systems. We have built a pond pool containing about 1500 gallons of water. In addition to the pond have installed foot 32 by 12 1/2 foot gravel grow bed which has a volume of litres 2742. This bed is big enough to feed for up to 6 people if he planted to capacity. Not bad... I believe that we are now only a little more green... Greener physically because I have found a way to eat only foods produced on site of savings of fossil fuels. Greener mentally, that it requires less income and raises a lot of stress and also establishes in my mind the importance of being green.

Aquaponics systems: Credit Where Credit is Due
A very interesting discussion took place in the community gardening Aquaponic last week. It was titled "credit to other Aqua pons" and was started by Eric Warwick. He asked, "such as aquaponics increasingly commercialized with the additions of kits grows, how will we keep ourselves of stealing other peoples ideas? '
The thread started by exploring the feasibility of patenting aquaponics designs. The conclusion was that patents are difficult if not impossible to perform in the digital society of today. Each online record of a conversation or an image prior to filing your patent expires. Then, even if you do manage to meet the requirements of a patent, they can be quite easy to get around. Finally, you must defend your patent infringement if it is on. This is a very expensive proposition.
So if the legal system is not a good option for the enforcement of "credit where credit is due", what is? The group walked to "gentlemen agreements" as the best choice. Aquaponics designs are available on the Internet, and anyone who is interested in building systems can be up and running with some effort research (although the quality of that information is another topic). The question is one of ethics. If you are someone the information for your own use systems, especially if you sell them, should not you give credit to that person?
Well, Yes and no. Kobus Jooste as "Credit will always be given to pioneers in this industry, but since there is so much logic and overlap with related industries, I suggest caution for anyone who wants to start deciding who thought of what first."
So when designing your own aquaponics system, you're stealing ideas from others, or are you inspired by them? In my opinion, is the line drawn when you claim the idea for your own. We must celebrate innovation around aquaponics. Take the ideas and the designs that are out there and improve on them but recognize the pioneers in the industry and unassuming about their role vs. your own. Free name your guru. Our is Murray Hallam of practical Aquaponics in Australia and his CHOP2 designs. Who is your guru?

Aquaponic gardening book entries
Emily and the Bank writingThis past winter I discovered that writing a book is a very solitary attempt. I was on a tight schedule that requires I write at least a thousand words per day, seven days per week, for four months. During that time every afternoon was my ass glued to what am I now come to call "my writing Bank" – a red Burgundy day-bed in the corner of our living room. Just me, Emily, my purple laptop and a head full of information and an idea to synthesize a complex subject in a comprehensive, and clear, how-to guide.
While I had some communication with the Publisher during the writing process – usually around cover design and handle the marketing plan – we really don't have much until I about the manuscript turned on 1 March. Since then, editors, graphic designers, layout artists and proofreaders who have come and gone ... but the book still just a project between new society publishers and myself felt.
Then one day she sent me a link to the formatted version of the book in PDF form and said "OK, it's time to ask for notes." What? Do you mean that other people are going to read this? Aquaponics people? Famous authors? The leaders of the industry of gardening? You mean that I need to ask these people very busy, very accomplished if they would be willing to drop what they are reading, slog away all my 300 + page manuscript, and a 3-4 sentence approval in the next three weeks writing? Oh, and I need to come up with the list itself? Sip.
So I started with coming up with names of people who I thought might be prepared. It included aquaponics leaders who I admire-Murray Hallam, Susanne friend, Charlie price, James Godsil and others. I then went to people I knew in the world of hydroponics, including Dr. Howard Resh, the author of "Hydroponic food production" and several other important books about hydroponics grow. Then the Permaculture and homesteading community leaders, including Sundari Kraft, author of "The Complete Idiot's Guide to urban Homesteading." I thought the following of famous people that I knew that don't really fall into any of these categories, but would have a valuable perspective on aquaponics, including Britta Riley, the leader of the movement window farms in NY City.
Finally there were the "Hail Marys". These were the authors whose work I admired and which is very closely related with aquaponics, but that I had never met. There were two of these that I introductory emails sent to (the Publisher handles the rest). The person who was kind enough to answer was Paul Greenberg, who wrote the NY Times bestseller "four fish: the future of the last wild food". Ironically, when I was writing my e-mail plea to Paul I was listening to his interview on NPR's fresh air. It was a very strange experience.
I emailed 29 requests, and 22 replied that they are willing to read the book and if they found it, then support would be! As if this wasn't amazing enough, decided 21 of the 22 not only support but have their quotes submitted by contemporary term (I just haven't heard of the 22nd)!
I am so very grateful for the time that each one of these kind of people put in both my book to read and write reviews. Words can hardly describe how blown away I am by all the wonderful things they have said. I am really touched by the outpouring of generous support for this book, and for the global potential for aquaponics! Thanks to all of you from the bottom of my heart.

Grow your own food is easier than it seems
Grow your own food is easier than it seems
The idea to grow their own food has much appeal. Capacity of total control over the quality of the food and nutrition, not having to deal with grocery stores or pay high prices are only some of the things that give the idea of this appeal. But many people pay for processed foods and year after year.
But their own food can be easier that could realize. Aquaponics is a way of growing food which has recently become a very easy way to grow food. Aquaponics takes the majority of work, time and expense necessary with traditional gardening in the soil.
Hydroponic growing plants in nutrient water rica, also makes this promise. But it has some serious drawbacks, such as the use of chemical fertilizers, the need for the continued maintenance of adequate nutrients and removal and replacement of wastewater. Aquaponics takes the good parts of hydroponics and combined with aquaculture, fish farming and created a complete system between the two, the low-cost and low maintenance.
Aquaponics, fish are bred in a tank, not more complicated than having common aquariums. The fish water is distributed to grow beds where plants extracting nutrients from fish waste. At the same time the plants are cleaning the water for fish. Thus a natural cycle complete it has the ability to grow as much organic fresh fish and vegetables in a very small space.
This type of system is mainly responsible for himself, similar to the way plants and make animals in nature. No need for a work of soil and pulling weeds and all other common gardened chores. food with aquaponics is very simple and requires very little time or money.
Learn how you can become self reliant and grow their own food with this aquaponics how Guide. Lift the whole of the system with simple step by step guide and grow their own highly nutritious organic food.
